This 88" started life as one of a consignment of five Crown-owned Land Rovers dispatched from the Central Vehicle Depot Hilton in Derbyshire to Porton Down, know in the 70's as the Chemical Defence Experimental Establishment. The army issued number of 46 FL 77 was used until 1973 when the vehicle was given a civilian DVLA age related number although it remained in government service until 1983.  It then became a fleet vehicle for The Hampshire Linen Co. and slowly worked it's way though 4 different owners before landing with the current owner from Lincolnshire in 2010.

The Land Rover has an early Marsland galvanised chassis, is now on it's second engine and would not pass a parade inspection but the dents, scrapes and stickers tell a story of having fun teaching the kids to drive, collecting logs and even trying a bit of trialling.
