I purchased the car in the summer of 2023 as the advert passed by and this was the one I just could not let pass. I did have some rides in some 88’s that were for sale at the time, but I went for the 109 with petrol engine that runs nicely. The registration needs to be activated again as it has not been used since a few decades. The car is sort of halfway ready before having it put back on the road. Previous owners did some work on the brakes and for the rest it needs a proper service and a new wiring loom. The radiator started leaking after a few runs around the block, so it needs to be repaired too. On several fairs I bought some new parts that were missing so when the time comes, I can finish in one go, I hope. I also have another classic project from a different brand that is in the finishing stage which need completion first before I start with the 109. That leaves me with plenty of time to find out what to do with the car as it has so many body panels with different colours. Even on the tub, the inside is light grey and dark green outside. It’s like Frankenstein being put together from different cars so I came up to name the car Franklyn. I was told the car was used in the Rhine-army, but it is unclear for me what color it had originally. Somehow the car has a artistic look but I’m still not sure to keep as is or give a new paint. Once the car is back on the street, I plan to put a truck cab soft top on it and put some wider tyres on the car.
