LWB 1963 wagon 10 seat Safari at Auction

My Land Rover is for sale at the auction BRIGHTWELLS, near Ludlow. I started restoring, but due to illness had to stop. Mechanically very sound, my cousin took it for a drive every month for 4 years for me. Drives very nice , and pretty fast , keeps up with lorries and not overtaken by many cars! History Home Office (dark green) Then moved to the Fire Brigade ( red ). When I bought it got quite a lot of MOTs from it’s past life I believe it’s 46,000 miles done is accurate. Restoration, is your choice I was intending to go to Home Office. Yes the doors need repair. The upholstery is original 10 seat Shark Skin . Could be nice with just a good clean. On the auction site plenty of good pictures and an accurate description. The fuel tank bottom seal/weld drips a bit. Found that after 70 mile drive to the action. If you are interested in buying you can contact me 07881646699 or call Brightwells Auction.

This is a trully original Series 2a, with no modifications. Bulkhead and chassis are original, and described as being in sound condition by several garages that have worked on the car recently, with one proviso, the near side outrigger is deserving of attention. Rare Series II Land Rover – Fantastic Restoration Project!

For Sale – 249 XVW – a rare early Series II Land Rover, 88 Inch Chassis. When the Series II was launched in April 1958, Land Rover did not have enough of the new 2.25 petrol engines, so continued to make use of the 2.0 litre engines and gearboxes from the previous Series I generation. They only made 1,702 Home Market 88″ RHD vehicles, of which this is one. They are seen as the Holy Grail of Series II’s for collectors, and are rightly sought after and more valuable than the later ones. This Series II, chassis number 141801304, was built in August 1958 and was registered on 1st October 1958 in Hertfordshire. It has the correct 2 litre petrol engine, Mileage 55536. There are lots of correct early features including dash warning lights, early front valence, wiper motors and early tailgate. Overall, it is a lovely, genuine and original early example that hasn’t been messed around with. I have the original Buff log book which is fascinating and shows it had never strayed far from its roots until it was bought by a dealer who sold it to me in 2022. Before that it had been in long term ownership and luckily had been dry stored. The engine ran in 2022 when I bought it, and sounded nice. The chassis is particularly good, the bulkhead is solid and it had new footwells many years ago. It selects all the gears and the brakes have been worked on relatively recently. It could be got back on the road without too much trouble. I purchased it as a project, but have only had time to strip the doors and dashboard. The instruments have been refurbished. Selling reluctantly due to a house move. This will be a very worthwhile restoration of a rare Land Rover. Available to view near Salisbury. Transport can be arranged throughout the UK, please ask for a quote.

1959 LAND ROVER SERIES II 109 BREAKDOWN TRUCK

1959 LAND ROVER SERIES II 109 BREAKDOWN TRUCK Chassis number: 151-0-00093 Engine number: 151-0-01000 Registration: YSV 237 Exterior colour: Marine Blue / Cream Interior colour: Marine Blue / Cream Mileage: 60,516 Miles KEY FACTS This Land Rover Series II 109 is an icon from the village garages of the 1960’s & 1970’s and a rare original example of the classic British 4×4, which has been preserved with care and attention using period correct parts where required. Under the bonnet sits the original ‘151’ 2.25 (2286cc) 4 cylinder petrol engine with the original Solex carburettor, driving all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and high/low range transfer box. Built on the 4th September 1959 and despatched to the LR Main Dealer in Norfolk on the 22nd September 1959, this example has been with the seller and only third owner for over seven years. The odometer shows 60,516 miles from new. Factory fitted Smiths heater and servo assisted brakes. Instead of the more commonly seen Harvey Frost crane, this vehicle was fitted from new with the ‘rare’ locally supplied (Norfolk) Mann Egerton LR approved recovery equipment. This includes a two-ton crane with tubular frame mounted in the load bed. This was an early example as it has a hand operated winch mounted against the cab bulkhead. This Series II was owned from new by Wymondham Motor Services until the garage closed in 2014. Ownership then passed to a well-known Norfolk Land Rover Enthusiast until the current owner purchased it in 2017. EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES Introduced in 1958, the Series II was only produced until 1961. This model is an early 109 inch long wheel base ‘basic’ pick up variant, with storage compartments in the load bay behind the rear wheel arches. This example has been fitted with new colour coordinated seats. The original ‘elephant hide’ seats will be included in the sale, if the new owner wishes to restore them. An illuminated ‘Towing’ sign is affixed to the front bumper, a period amber rotating beacon on the roof and an additional red light on the front wing for when recovering vehicles facing on-coming traffic at night. The wheels have been refurbished and fitted with new Avon Rangemaster tyres. CONDITION Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. The vehicle is generally in an excellent original condition, celebrating it’s patina, small dents and scratches from it’s former working life. The seller is not aware of any mechanical faults, and has been serviced and maintained using original / genuine parts throughout their ownership. SERVICE HISTORY (During current ownership) This Series II’s most recent maintenance was carried out in July 2023 at 60505 miles by G.A. Henman & Sons Limited, which consisted of an annual service, and the water pump being replaced with a genuine refurbished original part. Prior to this, an extended service was performed in November 2022 by Brownings Restoration Ltd, which included a full service, differentials, gearbox and transfer box oils being changed, all four wheel bearings replaced and front swivel housings replaced. An annual service was carried out in 2018 by Brownings Restoration Ltd, as well as the refurbishment of all five wheels and new Avon Rangemaster tyres fitted. An annual service and maintenance was carried out in April 2018 at 59470 by LR specialist M.J. Rolls. SUMMARY This Land Rover Series II is a timeless and original example of an iconic British breakdown truck, which has been cared for and preserved by its current owner. During those seven years, the vehicle has been driven to and displayed at multiple car shows across the country, including: Gaydon, Carfest, LRO Show Peterborough, Kelmarsh, Duxford, Shuttleworth and Billing. It would make a great addition to any classic collection, and a trusty companion for leisurely driving, and weekend adventures. Due to mobility issues, the current owner and their family does not get the opportunity to use the vehicle regularly and attend classic car shows as they once did, therefore it is time for a new owner to be found who will gain the enjoyment of driving this classic and cherish it as they have.
Series 2a

Landy which is 90% restored, fully roadworthy and would make a simple project to finish. The vehicle stood in a yard for many years in the open at the initial end of its service life. The owner always intended to rebuild it. He subcontracted the chassis replacement and engine change and has worked on the interior and exterior himself. Sadly he passed away recently but the car is a gem and deserves the final touches being completed in the hands of an enthusiast. Selling by the widow. Price ONO 07879893890 01252871468
